Biography

Olivia Ortiz is a Ray Botch City Management scholar, Bob and Linda Livingston Fellow, and the recipient of the KACM Virgil Basgall scholarship.  She graduated from Benedictine College in 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in political science and philosophy. As an undergraduate, Olivia served as a resident assistant, FOCUS bible study leader, a member of the Hunger Coalition, a College Standard mentor, and a member of the college’s program of leadership distinction. She was a varsity athlete on the school’s track team and also played for the women’s club rugby team. Olivia’s professional public service journey began when she worked as a Case Management Intern for Hillcrest Hope in Kansas City, MO, assisting families experiencing homelessness. More recently, Olivia worked as the City Management Intern for the City of Atchison, KS. She was the recipient of Benedictine College’s Class of 2022 Fran Jabara Leadership Award for her contributions to her college and local community. Olivia is looking forward to continuing her passion for servant leadership through a career in public management.
