Biography

Alex Villagran – a Richard Chesney and Darwin Daicoff Fellow – graduated from the University of Kansas with a bachelor’s in political science and a minor in Latin American studies and public policy.  Currently, Alex program support for KC Rising and Kansas City Tomorrow through an internship with Civic Council of Greater Kansas City.  As an intern with Mid-America Regional Council, Alex served as a Bilingual College Success Navigator in the KC Degrees initiative – a program that guided and supported Latinx adults returning to college.  Alex also served as a research intern for the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, where he focused on research and planning for education programming.  As a KU undergraduate, Alex coded and transcribed professor’s research projects and conducted his own research on Latinx voting barriers in Southwest Kansas.
