Biography

Amalia Murguia, a Richard Chesney, Mary M. Litchfield, and Rachel Hut Bremen Memorial fund scholar, graduated from Georgetown University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts in government and history. She is from Kansas City, KS and has always been interested in public service. She began her professional journey in college working on state and local campaigns at home in Kansas. She also had the opportunity to work for nonprofit organizations in the KC Metro Area.

After graduating with her undergraduate degree, Amalia completed a two-year AmeriCorps service through Lead for America and the American Connection Corps. She worked in rural Kansas and focused on digital equity and broadband expansion.

Amalia is currently a Rice Scholar and working towards a joint degree with the KU School of Law. She hopes to graduate with her JD and MPA in 2027 and serve in the Kansas City area.
