Biography

Dominic Kyei is a Ph.D. student in the School of Public Affairs and Administration at the University of Kansas. He holds an M.A. in Disaster Studies from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, where he was a Presidential Research Fellow, State Farm Scholar, and inducted into Alpha Kappa Delta, the Sociology Honor Society. He also earned an M.S. in Accounting and Finance from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from the University of Ghana Business School.

Dominic Kyei has held positions in finance, sustainability, and student leadership. At Kumad Global Impact Limited, a sustainability firm, he served as Project Account Manager for a COCOBOD and World Bank–funded project to rehabilitate Ghana’s cocoa industry affected by the CSSVD virus. He also held executive roles in the Student Representative Council and the Junior Common Room at the University of Ghana, advocating for student welfare. These roles informed his dedication to environmental challenges and disaster risk reduction. His research interests include sustainability, disaster risk governance, and disaster resilience, with a focus on strategies that enhance community resilience in the face of hazards.
