Biography

Elizabeth Blakely, a Clara Schneider Perkins, Ethan Allen, and Mark Keane scholar, earned her bachelor’s degree in political science, with an emphasis in law, politics, and policy from California State University, Long Beach in 2021. Prior to that, she attended Santiago Canyon College, where she was elected president of the SCC Pride Club. In this role, she was able to speak with the student body about issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community. Through this experience, Elizabeth discovered a passion for advocacy and public service.  

After graduation, she worked as a filing clerk at a law firm specializing in municipal law, representing cities across California. This position gave her a deeper understanding of how cities function and taught her the importance of care and due diligence in the field. Elizabeth is excited to continue her education at KU and hopes to bring the skills and knowledge she gains back to California.
