Komalpreet Kaur

Komalpreet Kaur, a Self Memorial Scholar, is the founder of Eye of An Immigrant, a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to immigration resources, funding pathways to citizenship, and elevating immigrant stories. As the daughter of Punjabi immigrants, her lived experience has shaped her commitment to creating more welcoming, inclusive communities through public service. Komal earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Kansas in Political Science with a minor in Intelligence & National Security Studies. 

She previously interned with the Kansas City Mayor's Office and the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, advancing initiatives focused on civic engagement, public policy, and immigrant inclusion. She also serves as co-chair of the Welcoming Johnson County initiative, helping lead a countywide effort to strengthen belonging and improve outcomes for immigrant and multilingual communities. Recognized as the youngest recipient of the Johnson County Citizen of the Year award and a KC Current Gamechanger, Komal aspires to build a career in a coastal, medium to large, local government, strengthening communities through inclusive leadership, public policy, and civic engagement.
