Biography

Megan Dorantes graduated Magnum Cum Laude with her Bachelor of Public Administration and Minors in Spanish, Leadership Studies, and Latin and Caribbean Studies from Washburn University. During her time at Washburn, she held many roles, her most memorable being the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Director for the Student Government and the Cultural Programs Director for the Campus Activities Board. 

Megan Dorantes originates from Kansas City, Kansas and began her public service journey as a Carhop at Sonic. Megan notes that her experience as a server has provided her with valuable skills that have prepared her for a career in Public Service. Her most recent role was as an AmeriCorps Vista and then Program and Marketing Coordinator for The Toolbox - Small Business Resource Center, located in Kansas City, Kansas. What motivates Megan is people and relationships. As an MPA City and County Management Fellow, Megan hopes to learn more about local government and their relationships with other entities to help her accomplish her goal of becoming Mayor of Kansas City, Kansas.
