Biography

Zoe Johnson, an Ethan Allen, John & Carol Nalbandian, and Rachel Hut Bremen Memorial Fund scholar, graduated from North Dakota State University with a bachelor’s degree in political science along with a minor in emergency management in December 2021. Originally from northwest Minnesota, public servants in her family have influenced her greatly in her passion for local government. Serving as city managers in MN, she was able to shadow and assist her relatives in election processes, tour municipal facilities, and learn about different services offered by local government from a young age. Upon graduating with her bachelor’s degree, she began a part-time internship turned full-time fellowship at the City of Moorhead, MN in the city manager's office. In just a year and a half, she completed a variety of tasks and assisted in multiple projects, which included: researching and implementing a local option sales tax, grant writing, facilitating a community appreciation award, community engagement opportunities for new downtown redevelopment, collecting sustainability data, providing internal administration assistance through multiple departments/divisions, and much more.

Zoe, a lifelong Minnesotan, is looking forward to making the most of her time in Kansas.
