About Brady

I am pleased to nominate Brady Fisher for the KUCIMAT Fellows Excellence Award, recognizing his outstanding contributions during his year-long fellowship with the City of West Chicago. Brady's hard work and ability to build relationships across the organization were evident from the start. He demonstrated a remarkable aptitude for understanding the big picture and strategically navigating complex projects. Brady led a complete revision of the City’s 25-year-old Purchasing Manual, seeking and incorporating feedback from across the organization. He also developed and implemented a comprehensive Boards and Commissions Handbook, detailing the duties and responsibilities for members of the City’s eight boards and commissions. He showcased poise and professionalism when presenting policy changes to the City Council and Committees, effectively summarizing key information and addressing questions.

Brady's efforts extended beyond policy and procedural improvements. He produced and managed content for the City's newsletter, website, and social media platforms, ensuring clear and effective communication with the community. As a co-founder of an Employee Wellness and Engagement Committee, Brady was crucial in creating recruitment and onboarding materials as well as foundational guidelines. Additionally, Brady collaborated on an Urban Community Forestry Grant, contributing to a successful application for $150,000 in new tree planting funds. He demonstrated strong technical skills when he researched and organized an Adobe PDF software upgrade for all City staff. Brady also showed a deep dedication to our profession by crafting a welcome packet with helpful resources, important context, and advice for the Management Fellow who followed him. Perhaps most notably, during Brady’s time in West Chicago, he became an integral, contributing member of the Senior Leadership Team. Not only did he provide the expected updates on his current assignments, but he offered thoughtful contributions to other Department Director led policy and procedure discussions, charismatically offered his perspectives as someone new in the field and of a different demographic as the rest of the group and, in the end, truly appeared as an employee who had been immersed in the organization for several years. Brady’s exceptional contributions have left a lasting positive impact on our organization, making him a deserving candidate for this prestigious award.
