Biography

Alex Buzicky, a Clara Perkins, Clarence Ridley, and Wildgen Family scholar, graduated from KU with a Bachelor of Social Welfare in 2018. While attending KU, she trained and volunteered with Headquarters Counseling Center (HQCC) to answer the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (NSPL). Alex also fulfilled a practicum with Kaw Valley Center (KVC) and transitioned into a Permanency Case Manager position at KVC before graduating. She went on to work with Minds Matter LLC to work with people with Traumatic Brain Injury.

Alex transitioned her focus towards case management with people experiencing homelessness and has worked with Salvation Army, Catholic Charities, City of Lawrence's Woody Campground, Low Income Tax Credit Housing (LITCH), and the Lawrence Community Shelter.

She has been advocating for policies and procedures at the organizational, city, county, and state levels within Kansas to improve services for the communities that she serves.
