Biography

Kaitlyn, a Wildgen Family and Richard Chesney scholar, graduated from The University of Kansas in 2021 with a bachelor's degree in political science. Throughout her undergraduate experience at KU, Kaitlyn worked closely with state legislator Brandon Woodard and former state senator Barbara Bollier on community outreach and campaign projects. She also organized community donation drives to benefit local causes like the Lawrence Humane Society and Cans for Community. Kaitlyn has a passion for uplifting members of her community as well as promoting diversity and inclusivity within local institutions. Thorough the COVID-19 pandemic, Kaitlyn has worked in a virtual internship with the organization Loud Light  a nonprofit organization that works to protect voting rights and make the state government more accessible in Kansas. Kaitlyn is excited to continue her public service journey at KU and looks forward to further opportunities to help her community as she pursues her master’s degree in public administration.
