Biography —
Kiley Heine – a Richard Chesney, Bob and Linda Livingston, and Clara Schneider Perkins Fellow – graduated from Fort Hays State University (FHSU) with a bachelor’s degree in sociology. During her time as an undergraduate student, Kiley worked as a research assistant for the sociology department and served as treasurer for the FHSU Sociology Club. Her research assesses water conservation attitudes and behaviors among residents of Hays, Kansas, using the drop-off/pick-up, door-to-door survey method. In a follow-up study, Kiley led a team of undergraduate students using iPads to field a digital survey about the water conservation practices of Fort Hays State students. This research was conducted in collaboration with the City of Hays Water Resources Department, to inform their public education and outreach. Additionally, Kiley presented her research to academic groups on campus, at the 2018 International Symposium on Society and Resource Management, and at the 2019 Midwest Sociological Society’s Annual Meeting.
