Biography

Thom Allen is an innovative academic leader with a passion for community engagement and design. He thrives on employing a multifaceted, interdisciplinary approach to nurture creativity and enhance effective communication, all while advancing forward-thinking initiatives for public spaces. His courses span teaching creative placemaking, site planning, architecture, sustainability, and defensible spaces, where he uses an applied research approach to enhance student experiences. 

Thom Allen holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Kansas State University and a Master of Science in Architecture and Urban Design from Columbia in the City of New York. Allen has worked for the New York City Department, District of Columbia Office of Planning, and is currently the Associate Director of the University Honors Program.
