Biography —
Kirk McClure is a professor emeritus of urban planning in the School of Public Affairs and Administration. His teaching and research examines housing market behavior and evaluates federal affordable housing programs. His research has been supported by multiple grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). He was Scholar in Residence at HUD’s Department of Policy Development and Research. He is a two-time winner of the Fannie Mae Best Paper in Housing Award and is a recipient of the Best Paper Award from the Urban Affairs Association. He earned his Ph.D. in Urban Planning at the University of California, Berkeley with specializations in housing policy and public finance. He earned his master’s degree in city planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. McClure is Associate Editor of Housing Policy Debate and serves on the boards of editors for Housing Studies and the Journal of Planning Education and Research.

McClure's primary interests are in the areas of housing and real estate development. Areas of emphasis include: housing policy, affordable housing, poverty deconcentration, housing market analysis, Housing Choice Voucher program, Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program.

Teaching —
Professor McClure taught courses in housing policy and housing market behavior, real estate investment analysis for planners, community and neighborhood revitalization, and quantitative research methods for planners.
